Yesterday's check-up, I was 2 1/2 cm. My doctor basically told me that it could probably happen any time (like any pregnancy), but I can also sit at 2 1/2 cm for a while (i.e. days/weeks). Yep! 3cm and 80% effaced from 36 weeks to when I was induced at 39+6. It's nice to be dilated that way if you do get induced you shouldn't need cervical ripener. Other than that, dilation doesn't mean much. I was sitting at 3cm for 4 weeks. Others are 1cm and go into labor that night. It varies by a lot.
